VERSACE AND THE MET’S COSTUME INSTITUTE SPRING 2018 EXHIBITION – HEAVENLY BODIES: FASHION AND THE CATHOLIC IMAGINATION
Versace is proud to sponsor The Costume Institute's spring 2018 Exhibition - Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
"This is something powerful, this is something that wants to create a cultural bridge that is very important to all of us. I would like people to leave the exhibition enriched in their spirit because they have witnessed how art and fashion are not just something to be admired and that they go far beyond aesthetic beauty." - Donatella Versace
The thematic exhibition will feature a dialogue between fashion and masterworks of medieval art in The Met collection to examine fashion’s ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism. A group of papal robes and accessories from the Vatican will travel to the United States to serve as the cornerstone of the exhibition, highlighting the enduring influence of liturgical vestments on designers.
