Donatella Versace has been awarded with The Humanitarian Award for Equity and Inclusivity at The CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2023 hosted at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. The award is in recognition of Donatella Versace’s championing of minority rights, and in particular her dedicated support of the LGBTQ+ community. Donatella arrived to the red carpet with Italian politician, Alessandro Zan, who has been a leading member of Italy’s largest global gay organization, Arcigay, and proposer of the ‘Zan bill’ against homophobia in the Italian Senate. Italian singer and friend of Versace, Marco Mengoni, presented the award and praised Donatella’s extraordinary commitment to LGBTQ+ rights, and how she uses her platform to support causes such as The Elton John AIDS Foundation, which Donatella recently dedicated herself to raising $125 million over the next three years to help Elton and his foundation end AIDS by 2030.Organized by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and the Ethical Fashion Initiative of the UN Agency ITC in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, The CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2023 awards those in the Italian and international fashion industry who are committed to sustainability in its highest sense: vision, innovation, commitment to craftsmanship, inclusivity, circular economy, human rights and environmental justice.
